Digital Literacy in English Language Teaching


 Digital literacy in education means knowing how to use computers and the internet for learning. This includes finding information online, checking if it's reliable, using educational apps, and working with others online. Many studies have shown that it is important for students and teachers to be good at digital stuff in the classroom. This helps students find information, think carefully about what they read online, talk to their classmates, and be ready for new technology in the future. So, digital literacy is a big deal for learning and teaching in today's world.

 Teachers and students use digital tools and online applications to create effective learning experiences. They make online content that can be used for teaching and learning, and they change how lessons are taught, tests are given, and communication happens. However, there are several things that can be considered when applying digital technology in teaching method. First, teachers should know what students need and try using technology themselves. They should plan enough time for this. Also, they need to see if their teaching methods help students with their literacy skills.

 Digital literacy in English Language Teaching (ELT) brings many benefits. It improves language skills, motivation to learn, and digital literacy. To do this, teachers should use digital tools, resources, and projects in their language courses. This helps students develop language skills and broader abilities like critical thinking and collaboration. By using online resources like dictionaries and language apps, students can learn better and become more independent learners.

 In conclusion, digital literacy plays a significant role in education, especially in ELT. It empowers students with the skills needed to thrive in a digital world while providing teachers with innovative ways to facilitate learning. This week in the Academic Speaking class, my lecturer, Mr. Udi, invited one of the outstanding students on campus, namely Kak Alfian Fajrin. He held a sharing session with us about the strategies and tips for studying abroad, explaining the process and sharing his experience. Reflection on Diplomatic Communication Tactics in English Material

          In the 9th week of my academic speaking class, my lecturer, Mr. Udi, covered the topic of diplomatic communication. He explained that there are the times when we have to communicate problems and we can say it exactly as it is. We communicate directly and there is no impact on the relationship. However, there are other times, when the situation is sensitive, the stakes are high, we do not know the other people well, or the relationship is key to develop such as in a negotiation or with external customers.
